abstract reflections
I began to explore reflections when a photography gallery that I regularly attend gave us an assignment to photograph bottles. Not having any interesting ones in my house, I conjured up the idea of taking something as mundane as a 7-up bottle and using Mylar (a reflective material) to create an interesting visual effect. The resulting photographs were wavy, curved, fragmented and abstract, which I found intriguing. With that discovery, I began using Mylar to distort my own existing artwork, creating dramatically altered images to impart a dream-like quality to my artwork.
